Tripler Army Medical Center Hawaii To Serve Civilians
Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii will begin to serve civilian trauma patients in about 6 months. In the past, the Medical Center was only used to service Military and Department of Defense employees. The plan is to have Tripler take care of stabilizing trauma patients from Aiea to Waianae until they can be transported to Queens Hospital in Honolulu. This comes as a welcome relief due to the closing of Hawaii Medical Center West in Ewa Beach in December 2011.
Many of the doctors that work at Tripler have combat experience and will be a great asset to serving the civilians on Oahu who require life or death emergency treatment.
