Oahu and Ewa Beach Real Estate in DEMAND!
Oahu and Ewa Beach real estate are still very much in demand. I stood in line at 3:30 am a few weeks ago to hold a spot for my clients to get a house. The sales office didn’t open until 10:00 am. This is not a statement from 2005 or 2006 when the market was on fire, but it just happened in October 2009. Yes, Hawaii real estate is still highly sought after and our market on Oahu is still strong. When I arrived at 3:30 am, there were already 8 other people in line. Some of them had been there from the day before.
Ewa Beach, Hawaii boasts some of the nicest, newest and most affordable homes on the island of Oahu. One of the two major home builders in Ewa Beach is “Gentry Homes” which has been developing in the Ewa Beach area for many years. Haseko is the other major builder.
The project in Ewa by Gentry that has people waiting in line overnight is called “The Tides”. These are single family homes with 3-4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and between 1,100 interior sf up to less than 1,300 sf and a 2 car garage. The starting prices for these homes is in the mid to high 300s. They also come with builders warranties which makes it a little big more attractive rather than buying a pre-owned home with no warranty.
I questioned some of the people waiting in line to find out why they would wait overnight and sleep in their cars. Most of them said they just wanted to buy a house. They knew that if they wanted to buy an affordable, quality piece of real estate on Oahu, they would need to wait in line to do it. Several of these people had already tried to submit offers on Hawaii Short Sale Properties but were having no luck. They were also finding that a very large percentage of the preowned homes for sale in Ewa Beach were short sales.
